Culinary Residency Incubator Support Program (CRISP)
A Platform for Culinary Entrepreneurs
The Culinary Residency Incubator Support Program (CRISP) at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum (BCM) supports local food entrepreneurs and organizations by providing opportunities to grow their businesses, connect with new audiences, and engage directly with the community. CRISP is rooted in the Museum’s commitment to community by supporting Brooklyn socially, culturally, and economically.
Residency
At the core of CRISP is a 3 – 4-month café residency, where entrepreneurs operate inside the Museum’s café and serve 15,000 – 20,000 visitors each month. This high-visibility platform allows businesses to build brand awareness, test their offerings, and develop lasting customer relationships.
Workshops
CRISP also includes a workshop series, where culinary entrepreneurs lead hands-on, food-based experiences. These workshops create opportunities for deeper community engagement and cultural storytelling through food.
Residency and workshops are complementary but distinct. Participation in one does not require participation in the other.
Get Involved
CRISP reflects BCM’s belief that food is a powerful way to bring people together. By supporting local entrepreneurs and celebrating Brooklyn’s diverse culinary traditions, the program strengthens both the Museum experience and the communities it serves.
Visit the Café
Support local businesses by enjoying food in the café during your BCM visit.
Participate in CRISP
If you are interested in participating in CRISP as a resident or workshop facilitator you can submit an interest form. Our team will review submissions and reach out to selected participants to explore potential opportunities.
PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS
CRISP builds on Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s culinary residency pilot program, which has supported over 12 local food businesses, including:
CURRENT
Rogers Burgers – A Caribbean-American burger concept.
PAST
Emma’s Torch – A café that provides culinary training to refugees.
Savvy Bistro – Caribbean-inspired cuisine rooted in Central Brooklyn.
Kindred Bakery – A social enterprise supporting youth with disabilities and low-income youth.
CRISP is supported by the Wells Fargo Foundation, which enables the Museum to provide increased opportunities for culinary vendors and organizations to have a presence at BCM including residencies and workshops.
