Find out how you can help the Museum!
Because of you and your ongoing generosity, 2013 was a big year at BCM!
March we opened “Big Adventure”, a traveling exhibit packed with
physical challenges for kids–a six-foot climbing wall, Tunnels of Fun
and a Crow’s Nest.
Also in March, construction kicked for a fantastic new rooftop canopy and renovated Commons Theater. This project will help realize the vision of expanded public program space to open in 2014.Thanks to the Brooklyn delegation of the City Council and to Borough President Marty Markowitz!
Brooklyn authors and artists helped to animate the Museum all year with an amazing 140-foot mural created on site by Evan Goodman and the Penguin Young Reader’s series highlighting Oliver Jeffers and other noted authors. Thanks to Penguin Books!
In April, Celebrate Earth! was
one of the year’s biggest festivals with 12,000 visitors. Children and
adults became better stewards of the environment interacting in our
greenhouse and garden—and with bees and chickens! Thanks to National Grid and the Holborn Foundation.
In October, as part of Disability Awareness month, BCM hosted I Can! Kid-Abilities Day on the first anniversary of the Museum’s unique Sensory Room—having served over 12,000 kids and parents. Thanks to the Warner Fund!
Collections Central Online (a
web resource that allows access to the Museum’s natural history and
cultural objects), now enables young people to create their own curated
exhibits. Thanks to Deutsche Bank.
your continued help and a growing community of donors, members,
visitors and friends, 2014 will be surely be bigger and better.
Thanks for all your support, and we hope to see you often in the New Year!
