Corn Dance with Cetiliztli Nauhcampa

Thursday, October 30
3:00 pm – 4:00 pm, during Community Access Thursdays

Immerse yourself in the cultural traditions of Mesoamerica as the Aztec/Mexikah dance group Cetiliztli Nauhcampa demonstrates the Centli (corn, in Nahuatl) dance.

This ceremonial dance beautifully expresses the lifecycle of corn, from planting to ripening to harvesting. Participants will embark on a journey through the agricultural cycle, learning the various dance steps that represent the act of planting, the nurturing growth stages, and the harvest celebration.

This program serves as a prelude to our Celebrate Día de los Muertos festival on Saturday, November 1. Don’t miss a day of vibrant dance performances, live music, an artist-built community ofrenda, Spanish-language puppet shows, engaging storytelling, traditional barrilete kite-making, and much more!
