The NEST

An interactive playscape located on the Museum’s rooftop

Experience Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s newest outdoor installation, The NEST. Created by Brooklyn-based design and fabrication practice Tri-Lox, The NEST is an interactive playscape located on the Museum’s rooftop terrace that provides a space for children and caregivers to play, climb, and explore the intersection of nature and the urban environment.

Inspired by the baya weaver bird’s unique nests, examples of which can be found in the Museum’s collection, The NEST is made from reclaimed NYC water tower cedar fashioned into an organic form that creates a woven landscape with a climbable exterior, circular hammock area, and permeable interior space for open and creative play.

The NEST is open during regular Museum hours, weather permitting.
