Experience Mexican folkloric dance, create Guatemalan giant kites, enjoy bilingual puppet shows, and share memories at our community ofrenda.

Calaverita Craft

🕒 10:30 am – 4:00 pm

Learn how to make a dulcero de calaverita with the Global School Brooklyn in Crown Heights. Come explore your creative side with some of the most recognizable Día de los Muertos symbols and a few sweet treats. 

Spanish Immersion Puppet Show

Karina Onofre performs a Spanish-language puppet show about the Día de los Santos celebration in Guatemala. Enjoy singing and dancing while experiencing Guatemalan culture and traditions. 

Traditional Mexican Folkloric Dance

Join dancers from Calpulli Mexican Dance Company in a celebration of traditional Mexican dance and music in honor of Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. Enjoy the unique costumes and rhythms while learning about the history and culture of Mexico during this fun and interactive performance. 

Día de los Muertos Storytime

Join this storytelling session by artist Yadira De La Riva. She will bring Day of the Dead traditions to life through picture books and interactive activities that educate participants about an ofrenda and how they honor our loved ones who are with us in spirit. 

Arts and Crafts Marketplace

🕒 10:30 am – 4:30 pm

Explore and support the craft and artistry of local Latinx artists on our rooftop. 

Music by DJ Farbeon

🕒 11:00 am – 4:30 pm

DJ Farbeon will be spinning Latin, World, Soul, Funk, House, and Hip Hop to honor the many sounds of our ancestors. 

Barrilete Kites

🕒 10:15 am – 12:15 pm

Drop by ColorLab art studio to learn about barriletes, a Guatemalan kite-making tradition, with Mayan artist Ixmucane Artisan. Craft your own kites using colorful tissue paper, bamboo, and other materials. 

Community Ofrenda

🕒 All Day

Visit our community ofrenda, designed by Brooklyn-based artists Johann and Adalhi Armendáriz-Mittnacht and Mincho Vega. Leave an offering at the ofrenda to help us all remember, learn about, and celebrate the lives of our loved ones who have passed.
