Group Trips

Group Visits to Brooklyn Children’s Museum

Brooklyn Children’s Museum welcomes groups of 15 people or fewer for weekday visits on Tuesdays through Fridays. There must be one adult present for every five children in the group, and adults are counted as part of the total number of visitors in the group.

Groups must reserve in advance by filling out our Group Reservations Form or emailing education@brooklynkids.org. We regret that groups without an advance reservation, and those exceeding 15 people including adults, cannot be accommodated at this time. A 50% deposit made by credit card is required to confirm a spot for your group.

Groups may choose to come for a private, self-guided play session in one of the Museum’s exhibits, either World Brooklyn or Totally Tots, or may select an educator-led program experience.

Private Play Sessions, $150 for 60 minutes

Have one of our two signature exhibits all to yourself for a full hour! Group leaders will receive a guidebook to enhance their experience and promote inquiry-based learning in our spaces. Play sessions can be booked Tuesdays through Fridays at 10:00am, 1:00pm or 3:00pm. Book a private play session here.

  • World Brooklyn

This child-sized streetscape of Brooklyn businesses invites children to engage in pretend play and explore their creativity, while learning about the cultures and communities of our borough.

  • Totally Tots

This sensory play area has been called a “pint-sized paradise” by The New York Times, and includes a water table, sand table, climbing soundscape and Imagination Playground block room.

Add-Ons
  • 30 minutes in an additional exhibit:
    $50 (subject to availability)
  • 30-minute lunch space on BCM’s outdoor roof:
    $50
  • BCM activity kits for each child:
    $8 per kit
  • BCM facilitator to help support your group:
$50 (groups with fewer than one adult for every five children will be charged this fee so that the adult to child ratio can be met)

Educator-Led Programs, $250 for 60-minute program

Join a Brooklyn Children’s Museum educator for an arts and culture or science workshop in one of our exhibits. Choose from the following programs and book your experience here.

  • Amazing Animals, all ages

    Thursdays & Fridays at 10:00am, 1:00pm or 3:00pm
Our animal friends at Brooklyn Children’s Museum have superpowers! Whether they can regrow a tail or lift 1,000 times their weight, animals have unique gifts that help them survive and grow. Children meet live animals, move their bodies, and explore their own superpowers.

  • Junior Curators, ages 3 to 5

    Wednesdays & Thursdays at 10:00am, 1:00pm or 3:00pm
Join BCM’s Collections staff for a hands-on exploration of cultural objects and science specimens from the Museum’s extraordinary 30,000-piece collection. Choose from one of two programs: Patterns or Me & My Super-Sense Self. Patterns takes a close look at patterns in nature and how people around the world create and use patterns to express themselves. Me & My Super-Sense Self uses collections objects that activate the five senses, and explores how people around the world use their senses to connect with each other and their environments.

  • Beautiful Us, ages 5 to 8

    Wednesdays & Thursdays at 11:00am, 12:00pm and 2:00pm
People around the world use fabric, metal, wood, and other materials to adorn our bodies and to tell the story of who we are. Explore the unique and universal reasons we adorn ourselves. Children observe and touch ancient and contemporary adornments from BCM’s collection, and make their own adornments using clay, fabric, or upcycled materials.

Add-Ons
  • 30 minutes of self-guided playtime in World Brooklyn or Totally Tots:
    $50 (subject to availability)
  • 30-minute lunch space on BCM’s outdoor roof:
    $50
  • BCM activity kits for each child:
    $8 per kit
  • BCM facilitator to help support your group:
$50 (groups with fewer than one adult for every five children will be charged this fee so that the adult to child ratio can be met)

Group Visit Policies

All visitors over the age of three years old must wear a mask at Brooklyn Children’s Museum, regardless of whether they are part of a private group. Groups must stay in their designated exhibit or program area and may only visit other exhibits or the roof if they have booked additional time in advance. Groups who visit unreserved spaces will be asked to leave those areas.

The total number of adults and children together in a group may not exceed 15 people. Groups larger than 15 will not be allowed in the Museum. Groups must include at least one adult for every five children. Groups that visit without the adequate adult to child ratio will be charged a $50 fee for each adult the Museum must provide as a helper for your group.

In the event that your program must be rescheduled, BCM will do its best to accommodate your group’s needs based on availability of space and educators. Groups may reschedule with at least one week’s notice at no charge. Groups rescheduling with less than a week’s notice will be charged a $25 rescheduling fee.

Groups may cancel with 10 days’ notice and will be charged a $25 cancellation fee. Groups that cancel with less than 10 days’ notice will forfeit their deposit.

If your group is running late, please notify us by email at education@brooklynkids.org. We will do our best to accommodate you. If your group is more than 15 minutes late for a workshop, BCM may need to reschedule your visit. Please make every effort to be on time for your scheduled time slot.

Please arrive no more than 10 minutes before your scheduled time. Groups that arrive before 10am may be asked to wait outside until the Museum opens.
