Brooklyn Children’s Museum is Brooklyn’s favorite house of exploration, discovery, and play, and SHINE is the ultimate house party for all-ages. Join us for an afternoon full of music, art making, and body rocking! SHINE is where you and the super stars in your life can be bright. Our house is your house at BCM!

Music by DJ Special

A House Built By Us Community Mural Workshop

Think about the community you want to build during this interactive workshop that invites families to add stars and houses to a community mural that serves as the backdrop for the afternoon.


Love & Light Hand Kites
1:00pm to 4:30pm : All ages

Hand kites are the perfect party accessory for dancing and imaginative play. Make a colorful hand kite to shake and stream as you jam to the music!


BCM Marketplace

Brooklyn’s best artisans, health, food, and wellness vendors gather to share their work with Museum visitors at this pop-up market tailored to families. Get information about local CSAs and exciting summer camp programs across the borough.


Lavender Blues Workshop
1:30pm to 2:15pm: Ages 0-8

Teaching musician Ms. Alex explores music, movement and rhythm in this engaging jam session!


Dance & Drum with Olatunji
3:15pm to 4:00pm: All Ages

Olatunji Oojore from Cumbe Center for African and Diaspora Dance keeps us moving together with a West African dance, drum, and storytelling workshop!

This event is organized by SHINE, a collective of art and community enthusiasts who collaboratively organize vibrant events for youth and families living in and around Bed-Stuy.
