Full of color and light, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s adventurous expansion, designed by renowned architect Rafael Viñoly, brings the home of the world’s first museum dedicated to children above ground for the first time in 25 years.
The $39 million project will double the Museum’s size to 102,000 square feet, increasing its capacity from 250,000 to 400,000 visitors annually.
Due to open in 2007, the expanded facility at the corner of St. Marks and Brooklyn Avenues in Crown Heights will feature an entry hall that will feature new galleries, a Kid's Cafe, and much more. State-of-the-art technologies will make it the first “green” museum in New York City.
