      Come join us for the Grand Opening of the Museum's newest special exhibition, Faith Ringgold:  A Sampler, and open young eyes to the possibilities of telling stories through art, featuring selected works from painter, mixed-media sculptor, and performance artist Faith Ringgold. See illustrations from her book Dinner at Aunt Connie’s House, view her Aunt Connie doll from the Museum’s collection, enjoy related documentary films and take part in special opening weekend programs!

      In conjunction with the exhibit Faith Ringgold:  A Sampler, this video shares an insider’s look at how one African-American woman fulfilled her dream of becoming an artist, with each she faced reinforcing her determination to reach her goal.

      World Passport Workshop Series: Piecing Together Our Quilt

      Part of Black History Month 2009's Untold Stories:  Heroes, Heroines, and Innovators Series

      Compare examples of abstract quilts and story quilts (by artists like the Gee’s Bend quilters and Faith Ringgold) with a traditional patterned quilt in the Museum’s collection. Create a quilt square based on these or develop one in your own style!
