      The enchanting traditions of Mexican folk art are kept alive by residents in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park. View special art objects from the Museum’s collection, including cut paper called papel picado. Then, make your own vivid paper art inspired by authentic Mexican objects.

      X-plorers Club: Magical Helpers of Ancient Egypt

      02:30, for 8 and up

      Ushabtis—small Egyptian statues representing magical helpers—were placed alongside mummies in ancient tombs. Ushabtis acted as substitutes for the deceased, should they be called upon to do manual labor in the afterlife. See an authentic ushabti from the Museum’s collection and sculpt your own figurine to take home.
