Celebrate your birthday at Brooklyn Children’s Museum!

Looking for a new and exciting place to host your friends and family for your next birthday? Celebrate with us at Brooklyn Children’s Museum!  Children of all ages (yes, grown-ups . . . that means you too!) are welcome to join us for a fun, educational experience to celebrate your special day.

Our themed parties cater to children ages 2-12 and include the following:

  • Two-hour experience in the Museum including a one-hour educational program based on your choice of theme and an hour in our private Party Room for food, fun, cake, song, and presents
  • Themed activities led by our Party Hosts
  • Food and beverage for 20 people (minimum of 5 adults), plus five additional adult guests FREE!
  • 10” birthday cake (larger cake available for an additional fee)
  • Party favor for each child
  • Museum admission for all party attendees

PARTY THEMES

ABC & 123  $450


(Ages 5 and under)

Children will learn their alphabets and numbers in song and dance during a guided tour of the Museum, led by a Party Host. With the help of moms and dads, the children will be asked to find animals and objects along their journey. Now let's go shopping in the grocery store! Can you find a fruit that begins with the letter "A"?


Museum Adventure  $450


(Ages 2-8)

Come along on a voyage around our exciting new Museum. Party guests will explore three of our hands-on exhibits, guided by one of our fun-filled Party Hosts. The children will learn about each exhibit as they sing and dance along their travels. 


Imagination Run Wild  $650


(Ages 5 and under)

This exclusive birthday celebration takes place in one of the most sought-after areas of the Museum, the new Totally Tots exhibit. Yes, that’s right—we will close down this exhibit just for you, your friends, and your family! Let your imagination run wild as you discover the magical wonders of our water works pond. Visit our sandbox, produce your very own puppet show or dress-up performance, or host a private storytelling. Make some noise as you explore, crawl, wiggle, and giggle your way through the tunnels, slides, and built-in music makers found in this unique and colorful space.

Move to the Beat  $550


(Ages 8 and under)

Get your groove on with us as we learn about intruiging global musical instruments and dances. Explore the similarities and differences in how different cultures around the world use sounds and movements to tell stories, express joy, or mark a special occasion. This celebration is sure to make you get off your feet—you’ll make music, dance, read an interactive story together, and then perform a musical parade around the Museum.


Raiders of the Lost Archeology Exploration  $650


(Ages 3-8)

Suit up for your very own dig expedition as you discover how a real archeologist would uncover and observe cultural artifacts from the past! This birthday expedition will begin in our Collections Central exhibit, where you will examine some of the unique pieces on display, including masks indigenous to African cultures, arrowheads used for hunting, ancient tools used for cooking, and even an elephant skeleton.  You and your guests will also have the opportunity to uncover mysteries of your own using the Museum’s dig box.


Under the Sea  $650


(Ages 3-8)

Learn about animals that are indigenous to New York City waters as you explore the Touch Tank in the new Neighborhood Nature exhibit. Meet cool aquatic creatures up close, and learn about the ecology of their natural habitats. You and your friends will have the opportunity to create a habitat or sea creature of your own to take home!


Animal Mania!  $650


(Ages 3-12)

Explore the wonderful world of snakes, turtles, icky insects, lizards, or dragons. Select an animal and learn about where in the world it comes from, its natural habitat, what it eats, and how it protects itself in the wild. Take part in an art project, read a story, and meet a LIVE animal! Make your next birthday super special by enjoying the company of one of our animal friends.


World Passport Scavenger Hunt  $650


(Ages 3-12)

Earn a stamp in your very own passport without even leaving the city! Join us for a scavenger hunt in the famed World Brooklyn exhibit while you test your knowledge of the diverse cultures found in New York City.  Our Party Host will provide clues for you and your guests, and the first ones to find the answers will receive stamps in their passport. Put on your thinking caps and get ready to travel!

PLANNING TIPS


Party Times

Our birthday parties take place on weekdays and weekends.  Weekend parties are especially popular, and these time slots tend to fill up quickly. We recommend booking two months in advance to secure your date and time. 

Parties begin at 9am, and the last time slot is at 5pm. Please note that limited time slots are available for our exclusive Imagination Run Wild party for preschoolers.

Additional Party Guests (Adults or Children)

Our birthday party package includes participation and food service for 20 people, of which a minimum of five adults is required. The first five additional adults are welcome free of charge.  All other additional party attendees are counted as additional guests and will be charged at the following rates up to a maximum of 30 people:

$25 for each additional child includes:

  • Participation in the themed activities and educational program led by our Party Hosts
  • Food and beverage at the party
  • Party favor
  • Museum admission

$10 for each additional adult includes:

  • Participation in the themed activities and education program led by our Party Hosts
  • Museum admission

Please note that any party exceeding the maximum count of 30 people is considered a special event and requires additional staff and an alternate venue in the Museum.  Should your party include more than 30 people, please call our Special Events and Space Rental Manager, at (718) 735-4400 x127, to discuss your event needs and space requirements.  
 

Menu Selections

If you have a special request not seen below, or would like to throw a party without food service, please ask our Party Coordinator, and we can adjust the selection to fit your needs.

Please note that our basic party package includes food for 20 people. If you would like additional food or party platters, our Party Coordinator can help suggest what would best suit your event needs.

 

Breakfast Menu (9am parties only)

Choose from a selection of the following items:

  • Bagels with cream cheese, butter, and jelly served with a fruit cup
  • Muffins served with a fruit cup
  • Assorted cold cereal with milk

Beverage choices include:

  • Milk
  • Apple juice
  • Orange juice

 

Lunch/Evening Menu

Choose from a selection of the following items:

  • Individual-size pizzas
  • Chicken fingers
  • Hot dogs
  • Mini turkey wraps
  • Finger sandwiches (individually sized) including deli meats, tuna, egg or chicken salad, served on assorted rolls including rye, multigrain, and sourdough
  • Individual garden salads
  • Fresh fruit cups with yogurt

Beverage choices include:

  • Kool-Aid (included in base price)
  • Mott′s apple juice boxes (additional fee for upgrade to premium juice)

 

Kosher Menu (available at all times)

Please note that our kosher menu, provided by Crown Kosher Caterers, is a premium upgrade and priced $100 above that of non-kosher food selections. 

Choose from a selection of the following items:

  • Hot dogs served with bag snacks and juice boxes
  • Turkey sandwiches served with bag snacks and juice boxes
  • Tuna sandwiches served with bag snacks and juice boxes

All kosher parties include a 12” kosher birthday cake, with your choice of chocolate or vanilla cake and either chocolate or vanilla filling. Cake decorations will include writing that reads, “Happy Birthday.”

 

What’s a Party without Cake?

All parties are provided with a 10” cake that serves 20 people; however, if you wish, a larger 12” cake can be purchased for an additional $15. We offer either chocolate or vanilla cake with a variety of filling flavors including chocolate or vanilla pudding, strawberry, or lemon.  Our delicious cakes are frosted using white butter cream, inscribed with “Happy Birthday,” and decorated with colorful, festive balloons and confetti or flowers. We can also personalize the cake with your child’s name for an additional fee of $10.

Brooklyn Children’s Museum does not allow outside food on the premises, except for individual portions for people with food allergies or special dietary needs. Outside cakes or cupcakes are welcome; however, no reductions will be made in the price of the birthday package.

 

Party Platter Selections

Looking for more adult-friendly fare? We have several platters to suit the more sophisticated palate including fruit, cheese, crudités, sandwiches, antipasto, etc.  Please ask our Party Coordinator for a full listing.  If there is something special that you would like to provide for your guests, we are more than happy to offer other options or even customize something just for you.

Please note: All alcoholic beverages including beer and wine are prohibited at children’s parties.

 

Birthday Party Enhancements

Looking to make your child’s birthday celebration extraordinary? Supplement the existing birthday package with great add-on features such as:

Timeline

Birthday parties at Brooklyn Children′s Museum are very popular! We suggest making your reservation two months in advance, to ensure the date you wish is available for your child′s party.

Final payment, guest counts, and food selections are due 10 days prior to your event.

Reservations and Payments

Reservations require a nonrefundable deposit of $100 to secure your date and time.

We accept cash, personal checks, or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover).  Checks should be made payable to “Brooklyn Children’s Museum” and mailed to the attention of “Birthday Party Coordinator” at 145 Brooklyn Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11213. Any checks returned for insufficient funds will be charged a $50 service fee.

Party Size

Birthday packages include participation and food service for 20 people, of which a minimum of five adults is required. The first five additional adults are welcome free of charge.  All other additional party attendees are counted as additional guests for which fees will apply.

The Museum requires a minimum of five adults per 20 guests. Please note that it is the responsibility of the Birthday Family to provide the minimum number of adults based on this requirement. Should you not be able to do so, an additional Party Host will be required for your party, at a fee of $85.

Please note that any party exceeding the maximum count of 30 people is considered a special event and higher rates apply.

Attendance numbers are strictly enforced for safety and staffing reasons.

Starting Time

Each event will start promptly. Late party arrivals risk a compromised schedule and program.

No refunds are available for late arrivals, and a party will be considered cancelled if the Birthday Family does not arrive within 30 minutes of the reserved party time.

What to Bring . . . and What to Leave at Home

Bring presents!  All gifts will be collected from your guests in the Museum lobby and placed in a colorful party wagon with your child′s name on it, for delivery to the Party Room, where they will be ready for gleeful unwrapping.

The Museum does not allow outside food on the premises, except for individual portions for people with food allergies or special dietary needs. Outside cakes or cupcakes are welcome; however, no reductions will be made in the price of the birthday package.

The Museum reserves the right to prohibit certain decorations due to fire, safety, and environmental concerns.  Please note that families wishing to bring any outside decorations must obtain written approval through the Manager of Special Events and Space Rental prior to your event date.

Changes and Cancellations

Date Change Policy:  Once your deposit and signed contract are received, your party is reserved.  Should you wish to reschedule the date of your party, please note that we require a minimum of 30 days’ notice and a fee of $75 will be incurred to reserve a new event date. Your deposit will transfer; however, event dates are subject to availability. Please contact the Party Coordinator to facilitate any adjustments.  

Cancellation Policy:  A nonrefundable deposit of $100 is required to secure your date and time.  Should you wish to cancel your party 60 days prior to your event; we will refund 50% of the party costs. No refunds will be provided for parties cancelled less than 60 days in advance.

Snow Storm Cancellation Policy:  If, due to a snow storm on or around the date of your event, you feel you need to cancel your party, Brooklyn Children’s Museum reserves the right to withhold your deposit if the Museum is officially open on the day of the scheduled party. In the event that the Museum is officially closed, we will return your deposit or reschedule your party for a later date.

ADULT BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Tired of the same old dinner and drinks with friends? Looking to host a unique or whimsical celebration this year?  We have many spaces available to host adult parties too. Go ahead; let your inner child cut loose, and join us for an evening of discovering the arts, culture, science, and the environment.

Who said having a dragon or snake at your party was just for the tots?
