Museum Team is a free, year-round afterschool program that serves over 800 neighborhood youth, grades 2-12. It is a multi-tiered program that provides a ladder of learning opportunities at the Museum and in the community.

Students begin in Kids Crew with educational programs and clubs, then move on to volunteer and paid internship positions focused on community service and career exploration.

AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM

Kids Crew (Grades 2 to 8)

Participants take part in a range of activities that center on cultural history, natural science, and the performing and visual arts, utilizing the Museum's collections, exhibitions, and technology.

Museum Team Volunteers (Grades 9 and 10)

In addition to having volunteer opportunities throughout the Museum, participants learn to work directly with the public as gallery, workshop, and public program assistants. They also have an opportunity to explore careers through field trips and artist/scientist-in-residence programs.

Museum Team Interns (Grades 11 and 12)

Interns receive training and an hourly stipend for their work, which may include serving as a Peer Mentor for Kids Crew youngsters or working as an Explainer in exhibit galleries and public programs. Interns also participate in community service projects and college and career preparation workshops.
